THE WIFE’S NEW MAID – DOMESTIC THRILLER
“I LOVED this thriller. It reminded me of a Frieda McFadden book...” ★★★★★
Linley thought marrying a millionaire would be her escape from the daily grind—a dream life in a lavish suburban paradise. But four years in, and the clock is running out. If she doesn’t conceive soon, her ironclad prenup means her husband can cast her aside, leaving her with very little. Meanwhile, her husband is distracted by the stunning new maid. Linley soon finds herself playing a dangerous game to keep her marriage intact. But when a brutal murder shatters their home, it becomes clear: someone in this house has a deadly secret. And now, no one is safe.

“The Wife’s New Maid” by Amora Sway is a propulsive domestic thriller with suspense. Written from the perspective of a frustrated, attention-starved wife, Linley’s raw narrative pulls readers in. Like a trainwreck you cannot take your eyes from, Sway illuminates the consequences of deception and temptation in an already fragile marriage. The stakes become higher, and the players stoop lower when large sums of money are involved.
Welcome to Marigold Boulevard, where the houses are abundant, and the lawns are as perfectly manicured as the beautiful people. But inside, it is a whole different story. Sway has expertly highlighted the scandal, and dysfunction plagues the seemingly tight-knit community. Linley and Dorian aren’t the only ones giving an Oscar-worthy performance—the neighbor whose husband is gay, the mature woman sleeping with her much younger yoga instructor, the maid who comes to work with bruises on her body, and the gardener who sees everything. I loved how these various subplots added another layer to the intriguing story. Sway’s writing made me feel like I was constantly eavesdropping on a conversation I wasn’t supposed to hear (and I loved every minute of it!)
If you love reading domestic thrillers about the rich misbehaving, Amora Sway’s “The Wife’s New Maid” is for you! Led by a cast of beautiful, albeit incorrigible characters, the book is the perfect escape from the humdrum of everyday life. Moreover, the twisty, suspenseful elements will have readers voraciously reading every page, desperate to know who will succumb to a nefarious fate and who will survive. ★★★★★ Reviewed by Stephanie Elizabeth Long for Reader Views

The pacing is fast and furious, and there is humor and depth to the characters. Descriptions of small towns, major cities, and the countryside of Italy may prompt readers to call their travel agents. Adding richness to the book are musings on art, such as, “you surely recognize that grays make bright colors pop. Look at a woman in red on a dull day, and she will stand out more than on a sunny day.” The glamorous, lucrative world of art auctions serves as an exciting backdrop to this thriller, which includes numerous twists and an unexpected ending. Like rich chocolate gelato: dark, delicious, and decadent. Kirkus Reviews
Sway’s latest is a taut, gripping psychological thriller that plunges readers into the heart of abuse, betrayal, and manipulation, all set against the glamorous yet dangerous world of art fraud. Mallory Storm believes that freedom has finally arrived with her abusive husband’s death, but as suspicion falls on her, she finds a dangerous way out. Accepting an undercover job as an art dealer in Italy, Mallory is thrust into a perilous world of wealth and deceit, tasked with exposing a notorious art fraudster.
Sway masterfully crafts Mallory as a deeply flawed yet compelling character, whose emotional scars from an abusive mother and violent marriage shape her choices throughout the book. The psychological tension between Mallory and the people around her—especially the men who seek to control and manipulate her—is palpable, and the author’s sharp prose brings out the rawness of her inner turmoil. Sway deftly contrasts the art world’s beauty with the corruption lurking beneath its polished surface, forcing readers to confront the seductive nature of deception, both in life and in art. Unsettling, dark, and relentlessly tense, this is a page-turner.

Trusting him could be fatal, even if resisting might be impossible

Now that her abusive husband is dead, Mallory Storm thinks she’ll finally be free. But when suspicion falls her way, she pounces on a job working undercover as an art dealer in Italy offering her a chance to escape a dark past.
Mallory is sent to uncover a major player in the art fraud world. Where there’s money, there’s crime. And while the art world is undoubtedly glamorous, her eyes are opened to its dark underbelly.
When the person of interest turns out to be the debonaire and seductive Dylan Hyde, Mallory’s torn between duty and lust. He may be irresistible, but having learned the hard way, she knows that attraction and trust don’t always go hand in hand.
She’s not just spying on Hyde but soon finds herself becoming his accomplice too, as they run for their lives while in possession of a key that opens a vault containing a mysterious suitcase. Whether Dylan had prior knowledge of the case and its contents is anyone’s guess at this point.
Trapped in a web of deception, Mallory soon finds herself falling deeply in love with a man who might be trying to murder her. But is that just paranoia? After all, the line between truth and invention blurred for her a long time ago. Even before this adventure began.
The Lies that Blind Us is filled with so many twists and turns that it’s hard to know who to believe in this mystery thriller with an ending that no one saw coming.

Car chases along winding cliffs, violent pursuits, and staggering deceptions—Mallory is thrust into an adrenaline-inducing, heart-thumping scandal, and now her hormones are getting in the way. It seems she’s traded in one problem for another. But being in Italy surrounded by art history and peril makes her feel more alive than she’s felt in a long time. Mallory seems to be putting an alarming amount of trust in Dyan, but is he playing her?
One cannot read “The Lies That Blind Us” by Amora Sway without drinking in the palpable chemistry between Mallory Storm and Dylan Hyde. Nothing is more appealing than having characters fall for one another who have no business doing so. But that doesn’t stop Mallory from becoming weak in the knees for smooth-talking Dylan. Between dizzying chase scenes and bloodshed, there is still plenty of time for lusty stares and sensuous encounters. Who doesn’t like a bit of toe-curling passion when you’re running for your life?
Mallory’s trip to Italy is so much more than a high-stakes investigation where she’s pursuing a brooding, sexy art connoisseur; there is a war waging within her. Being thrust into a stressful predicament forces all of her past trauma to bubble up to the surface. The more entangled she becomes, the more her stoic facade begins to crack. The author deftly highlights the emotions Mallory allows herself to feel as she experiences this transformative journey.
Thriller enthusiasts, “The Lies That Blind Us” is for you. Amora Sway has created an absorbing novel with intense action, secrets, and passion, all while capturing the idyllic beauty of Italy.
